The Alternative ‘CITY TO SURF’ – Starting time: 11am sharp

Distance from 1 to 14km, stop whenever you wish. Walk, run or jog for free! Followed by BYO Picnic Lunch. Certificate for all competitors.

A FEW TIPS

  • Start training, a little each day is better than a lot once a week
  • Wear comfortable clothes, it is not a fashion parade
  • Shoes should be worn in and comfortable, expensive is not necessarily better than cheaper or old one
    Bring a water bottle
  • It is an enter at own risk, all care, no responsibility event and all participants will be required to sign an indemnity.

The 24th Laguna P&C Art Exhibition


Date: Friday, 21 August 2015 - Sunday, 23 August 2015
Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Laguna Hall, Laguna NSW

The Laguna Public School Art Exhibition has developed a reputation for show casing the enormous talent in the Valley. The exhibition displays an eclectic mix of art mediums including oils, watercolours, acrylics, crayon and pencil; sculptures in wood, steel and sandstone; pottery; handmade bush furniture; etchings; photography; leadlight; jewellery, quilts and clothing.

Proceeds from the event go to furthering the education experience of students at Laguna Public School in the Hunter Valley. Funds from previous shows have gone towards the installation of some large outdoor musical instruments to stimulate creative and dramatic play, visits from children’s authors, art workshops with local artists and additional programs to enhance the student’s chess and film making skills.

Opening Night

WHEN: Friday 21 August 2015 from 7pm.
ENTRY: $15 includes access to the Chill Lounge, a commemorative glass, a complimentary glass of wine, a catalogue and entry to the exhibition. (Due to NSW liquor laws, please note that no person under 18 will be admitted).

Well known Wollombi local John Niven Richards has been a popular exhibitor at Laguna Art Show and elsewhere for many years. His first show at The Old Fire Shed Gallery will showcase original paintings, poster art and high quality prints, with an emphasis on landscape subjects.

OPENING: Saturday 29 August – all welcome.
EXHIBITION: Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Pop Up Pampering

Hunter Valley Getabout will be taking over the beautiful Secret Garden at the back of Noyce Brothers Wine for pop up pampering throughout the weekend of the Wollombi Country Fair. Jo will be offering her wonderful massage, Kerrie will be on hand with her tarot cards, Nail Call will be doing manicures and pedicures all day and Sarah will be here with her fabulous henna tattoos and art.

We’ll be swinging open the gates to the garden at 10am each day so pop by for any or all of these delicious treatments over Saturday and Sunday of the Wollombi Country Fair.

Pop Up Pampering

This event started life in 2009 … now in its 6th year we’ve given the Fair a major overhaul, incorporating the best of past Fairs. All weekend there’s wine tasting, food and local produce stalls, arts and craft market stalls, street and musical entertainment. Welcome to the Wollombi Country Fair … a fantastic family-friendly fun weekend in the Hunter Valley. Close enough for a day trip from northern Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle or the Hunter, there’s an event to suit all ages. Why not visit this great Hunter Valley Festival!

Sunday Arvo’s @ Wollombi Tav is a great of events being held at the iconic Wollombi Tavern in the beautiful Lower Hunter Valley village of Wollombi.

These aren’t your usual Sunday Sessions – they’re indie and an opportunity to listen to some great music on the grass, enjoy a pub meal and a beverage … if you’re so inclined you can even pull up your swag and camp for FREE behind the Tavern. This August we’ve got Men from Earth and Shane Shepherd performing.

September 2015

Wollombi Wild Ride


Date: Saturday, 05 September 2015
Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Wollombi Tavern, Wollombi NSW

An adventurous mountain bike ride through some of the most picturesque countryside in Wollombi in the Lower Hunter Valley. Race is in 3 categories, 13.5 km, 30km and 58km.

The race compound and registration area will be in the grounds of the Wollombi Tavern. From there riders will marshal for their starts out the back gate and into the park on Yango Creek Rd. All courses start and end here, with the finish being a right hand turn into the grounds of the Tavern to the finish arch. The Wild Short course is out and back and the Wild Mid and Long are both looped courses. Please note there are no road closures on the main tracks and normal road rules apply when using the roadways. We do not expect much traffic and a traffic management plan will be in place. The surface is mostly fire trails and gravel roads which have various degrees of condition, from ‘rough as guts’ to quite smooth.

Broke Village Fair and Vintage Car Display

Location: Broke village, Broke NSW

Join us at the Broke Village Fair on Sunday, 14th September from 9am – 3pm at McNamara Park, Broke. The famous Vintage Car Display brings all sorts of vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, trucks & tractors and an amazing array of old but still functioning farm machinery. The kids will love the amusement rides, laser tag and the petting zoo while mum and dad can enjoy the festival atmosphere. Over 50 market stalls, children’s activities and rides, live music, whip cracking, bush poetry, Tug-o-War, rocker car racing and so much more throughout day. Free mine tours to Bulga Open Cut mine will operate between 10am and 1pm for the whole family.

Visit historic Wollombi on the holiday Monday of each long weekend (Easter, June and October) and on Australia Day for this great market of over 100 stalls, including local produce and crafts, plants, clothes, tools, bric-a-brac and much more.

This market attracts thousands of visitors to the beautiful countryside of the Wollombi Valley in the lower Hunter. Wollombi is just over an hour from the outskirts of Sydney and Newcastle and 30 minutes from Cessnock.

As each market is run by volunteers from a different local community group, they benefit a cross section of this small rural community, including the Wollombi Bush Fire Brigade and Wollombi Public School P&C.
