A Girl's A Gun Duo @ GNTP

Date: Friday, 01 August 2014
Time: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Location: Great Northern Trading Post, Laguna NSW

The last time A Girl’s A Gun graced the Laguna stage we were blown away by some seriously strong vocals from lead singer Lucia “Chi” Neville.

A Girl’s a Gun is a Sydney-based rock and roll band, with a sound coming out of the same Southern Rock soup that most likely influenced the Stones while they were busy influencing The Black Crowes: sexy, fuzzy, and full of blues.

In duo mode when they stop by to blow us away, you can look forward to a night of great music, with the usual wonderful accompaniments you’ve come to expect from GNTP… awesome food, a well stocked bar and great company.

Bill Chambers with Robyn Ludwick @ GNTP

Date: Friday, 15 August 2014
Time: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Location: Great Northern Trading Post, Laguna NSW

We’re more than a little excited about this show Lagunatics as it promises to be a cracker, featuring local fave Bill Chambers and his special guest from Texas, Robyn Ludwick gracing our little stage at GNTP.

There’s much more to Bill Chambers than just being Kasey’s dad. The patriarch of the Chambers Clan is considered by some to be Australia’s premier alt-country guitarist. He can be a master of delicate picking on Dobro or Lap Steel and a demon on Slide. Along with producing albums for the likes of Catherine Britt, Audrey Auld, Bec Willis (co-produced with Kasey) and the Dead Ringer Band, Bill has still found time to write most of the songs on his albums – the ARIA nominated ‘Sleeping With The Blues’ , ‘Frozen Ground’ and his most recent, ‘Drifting South’.

So as you can imagine Lagunatics, we’re over the moon to have these two on our stage at Laguna. Local favourite Andy Cash and a couple of his very special friends will be on hand to warm us all up for the main event as well. Don’t miss it!

Art Exhibition - 'Symposium'

Date: Saturday, 16 August 2014 - Sunday, 31 August 2014
Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Wollombi Cultural Centre, Wollombi NSW

“Symposium” is an exhibition of new paintings and drawings by fifteen artists of the Valley New Art Group including works which are original, imaginative and diverse in style and media. Abstract, figurative and mixed media art, ranging in size from intimate to large scale, are represented.

As senior artist, Stephen James explains, “Symposium is inspired by the philosopher, Plato’s classical text ‘The Symposium’. Socrates meets with fellow Athenians for a drinking party or symposium to discuss philosophy and life. It is not that different to our regular art group gatherings each Monday, though coffee not wine, is the more usual beverage.”

The Valley New Art Group are artists who bring to their art rich life experience from other fields and professions. They have all come to their art in adulthood and are pursuing their passion.

Among the fifteen exhibiting artists, are well-known mosaic artist, Mary Francis showing a new side to her talent, Cessnock artist Gary Hamilton and a host of artists whose names are not so familiar, but whose work speak for themselves.

OPENING NIGHT: Friday 15 August from 6pm. All welcome.

EXHIBITION: Open weekends 10am – 4pm, from 16-31 August.
