The inaugural Newcastle Writers Festival was held in 2013 and since then it has become one of the Hunter Region’s leading cultural events. It attracts Australia’s leading writers and thinkers and previous guests have included Helen Garner, Matthew Reilly, David Marr and Tara Moss. In 2017, the festival celebrated its fifth anniversary with a record audience of 9000, which included a schools program and free family fun day.
In 2018, best-selling writer Michael Robotham will be the special guest at this notable event. Before becoming a novelist, Michael was an investigative journalist working across America, Australia and Britain. As a journalist he has investigated notorious cases such as the serial killer couple Fred and Rosemary West. He has also worked with clinical and forensic psychologists as they helped police investigate complex, psychologically driven crimes.
Michael will be signing books after the event.
