Walkabout Park is a small family run wildlife sanctuary one hour north of Sydney where visitors can experience the natural and cultural environment of pre-settlement Australia. The team at Walkabout Park believes it is not enough to record artefacts and put them in museums, or capture endangered species to live in zoos. We must preserve their natural place. The Walkabout Park experience is neither zoo nor museum. It is the Australian bush as it has been for thousands of years. A place where visitors can experience how people and nature depend on each other. This is the Aboriginal concept of ‘Country’.

We offer ranger talks and tours every half an hour. This 80 acres of bush habitat is the perfect home for kangaroos, wallabies, emus, possums, gliders, pythons, turtles, lizards, goannas, cockatoos, frogs and more.

When we talk about the Aboriginal cultural landscape we are speaking about everything in the environment. The animals, the bush, water and land formations, as well as Aboriginal sites and signs of ancient occupation. The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth. But we are losing our cultural heritage as we destroy our world. It is not enough to do nothing. We need to do something different if we are to change this. Yes, every one of us can help save the world, but none of us can do it on our own.
